国际政治学是政治学的一个分支,是一门揭示国际社会中各种国际政治行为主体之间政治关系及其发展变化一般规律的新兴学科;是以国际社会各个行为主体之间的政治关系及其运行机制和规律为主要研究对象的一门学科。它不同于国际关系学,侧重于研究国家间的政治关系。
国际关系学是政治学的一个分支学科,主要研究领域为战争与和平、合作、一体化、国际组织等国际体系层面的政治现象。国际关系既是学术的领域,也是公共政策的领域。作为政治学的一部分,国际关系也和哲学、经济学、历史学、法学、地理学、社会学、人类学、心理学研究紧密联系。从全球化到领土纠纷、核危机、民族主义、恐怖主义、人权,都是国际关系学研究的议题。
外交学专业是研究主权国家外交政策的制定和外交行为的实施及其规律的学科。主要研究对象是国家对外行使主权的外交行为和国家实施对外政策的外交实践经验。

International Relations will explore the broad forces at play in the world: international economics, national interests, military power, nationalism, ethnicity, the environment, and human rights. It will discuss world events as they unfold before our eyes and debate grand global issues underlying those events. It will reveal a breadth of analytical tools that help make sense of our political world, and apply those tools in open discussion to contemporary cases.
Politics of Development is an emerging sub-discipline of politics ever since the 1950s. This course will introduce basic concepts, mainstream theories of political development from both macro and micro perspectives, including modernization theory, the dependency theory, political participation, political stability, political culture, political institutions, and democratization. Particularly attention will be paid to less developed countries in terms of its democratization, social stability, corruption, institutionalization, and political crisis. Students who enrolled in this course are expected to be able to understand the trend of political development.
In this lecture, I’d mainly like to give you a comprehensive understanding of how the various thinkers, statesmen and scholars of different schools ( from the Pre-Qin Dynasty to the Late Qing Dynasty) think about the right ways of governing a country and its people--- their thoughts and their views.
Political thoughts present the reflection of human beings in related to dilemmas in collective life. This course will outline the overall picture of the development of western philosophy and western civilization. The main purpose of this course is to examine the origins and development of political concepts and theories ranging from the ancient Greek to the 20th century. Particularly attention will be paid to the historical context of thinkers, concepts, theories, and classical works. Students who enrolled in this course are expected to better understand the path of western political development.
This course provides an overview of the field of political economy to students who have no previous background knowledge. The main aim is to help students understand the interaction between domestic political and economic systems, forces and actors, including such interaction at and between international and domestic levels. The course asks two main questions: first, how do states, social forces and various kinds of institutions affect the flow of economic resources within national boundaries? Second, how do economic forces constrain the behavior of political actors at domestic level?
