The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction of computational modeling and simulation, including various methods and tools, in Biosystem study for undergraduates. The content includes three major parts: theoretical basis, case study, and computer practice. The theoretical part includes the category of modeling, assessment of the modeling and simulation, as well as the numerically solving differential equations. In the case study, students will be taught several successful applications of modeling and simulation in biomedical fields, including bioelectric phenomena, compartment model, and biomechanics. Computer practices will teach students how to use MATLAB, Simulink, and comsol multiphysics softwares to solve biomedical engineering problems.

生物医学工程,是利用数学、物理的法则,以及工程学本身的解析及综合方法,以应付在生物学及医学范畴上种种新挑战的学科。它应用工程学的法则、技术和组织方法于分子生物学、生物化学、微生物学、药理学、蛋白化学、细胞学、免疫学、神经生物学及神经科学,人工再现生物的整个生命进程或者生命进程中的一部分。 生物医学工程是个交叉学科,与生物工程密切相关,其主要特点是将工程学的方法应用到医学领域中。它将工程技术与医学相结合以提高医疗水平,帮助患者得到更好的照料以及提高健康个体的生活质量。
